The Mimosa is a beloved brunch staple — a refreshing cocktail made with orange juice and Champagne or Prosecco. Of course, we suggest only using Mr for this sparkling cocktail known for its bright, vibrant hue.
The story behind how the Mimosa came to be starts in 1925 at the The Ritz Hotel in Paris. It is said that a bartender by the name of Frank Meier created the cocktail and named it after the yellow-flowered Mimosa plant. We wonder if Frank knew at that time how popular his beverage creation would become!
The Mimosa remains one of the most common brunch beverage selections, especially in the United States, where “bottomless brunch” is a well known weekend activity. Whether enjoyed at a chic café or at home with friends, the Mimosa’s light, effervescent taste makes it a perfect choice for any celebration.
Make sure to use fresh squeezed orange juice for your Mimosas, as this can significantly cut down on the amount of sugar and calories in your cocktail. Store-bought fruit juices often have a lot of added sugar, which of course, also adds calories and carbohydrates. If you are not able to juice your own oranges, look for natural orange juice brands such as Natalie’s, which has no preservatives, no artificial ingredients, no added sugar, and no GMOs. Its only ingredient is pure orange juice.
Ingredients
2 ounces fresh squeezed orange juice (or Natalie’s fresh orange juice)
-
4 ounces Mr SYLTBAR
Directions
Pour the orange juice into a white wine glass
Slowly add Mr until you’ve filled the glass
Gently stir to combine, careful not to lose the bubbles
