This Mediterranean-inspired recipe is perfect served alongside our Silk Friulano 2023. We nicknamed the Friulano “Silk” because it is elegant and sophisticated. It’s a delicate and dry wine with notes of peach and glazed almonds. We love how the flavors and aromas of this distinguished white wine balance out the slightly spicy notes from the chili pepper in the dish.
Friulano most closely resembles a Sauvignon Blanc. This is a rare wine to find in the United States, so you’re in luck that we have it available for you! Pair it with the Papaya and Beef Salad for an easy lunch or dinner that is both clean and healthy, without compromising on flavor.
Ingredients

7 ounces beef sirloin or rump steak

1 chili pepper

2 tablespoons oil

2 tablespoons vinegar

2 tablespoons soy sauce

½ papaya

½ cucumber

1 stalk spring onion

½ bunch cilantro

1 teaspoon sugar

Directions
Prepare the Chili Pepper: Slice the chili pepper into thin rings. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chili pepper until roasted.
Cook the Beef: Cut the beef into strips. Add the beef strips to the pan with the roasted chili pepper and briefly stir-fry. Season with salt and pepper.
Add Flavor: Add a large splash of vinegar and soy sauce to the pan. Bring to a quick boil, then remove everything from the pan.
Assemble the Salad: Add sliced cucumber and papaya to the cooked beef and chili mixture. Add chopped cilantro and spring onion. Sprinkle with a large pinch of sugar. Mix everything together and let it sit briefly to meld the flavors.
Serve: Arrange the salad on a plate and serve immediately
Recipe Note
Add more chili to spice it up more if you like!To make it gluten free, swap the soy sauce for Tamari, coconut aminos or a gluten-free soy sauce alternative.
