Where there’s smoke, there’s flavor! The Smoke Signal is our bold, bright twist on the classic
Division Bell—a cocktail that doesn’t whisper, it shouts. The Division Bell, created by Phil Ward
at Mayahuel in New York City, is a mezcal-based riff on the Last Word cocktail. It combines
mezcal, Aperol, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime juice, garnished with a grapefruit twist. The
Smoke Signal is our SYLTBAR-approved version!
This vibrant sipper starts with a sultry base of mezcal, bringing that signature smoky swagger,
and gets lifted with Loopidilup, our all-natural aperitif that’s as clean as your conscience—zero
additives, all the flavor. You won’t find any artificial nonsense here, just botanical brilliance that
lets the mezcal shine.
We’re also throwing in a splash of maraschino liqueur for a hint of cherry-kissed sweetness, and
giving it all a citrusy kick with freshly squeezed lime juice—because store-bought just doesn’t
cut it. Fresh lime packs way more zing, more brightness, and better balance. It’s the difference
between “meh” and “more, please!”
It’s finished with a couple dashes of orange bitters and a flamed orange peel to enhance the
smokiness of the mezcal. The name "Smoke Signal" pays homage to the smoky character of
mezcal while evoking the idea of sending a flavorful message through this distinctive cocktail.
Enjoy this innovative take on the Division Bell, and let the "Smoke Signa" guide your taste buds to new horizons!

Ingredients
-
1 oz mezcal
-
3/4 oz SYLTBAR Loopidilup
- 3/4 oz maraschino liqueur (such as Luxardo)
- 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 dashes orange bitters
Directions
Add mezcal, Loopidilup, maraschino liqueur, lime juice, and orange bitters into a shaker filled with ice.
Shake well until chilled.
Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with the flamed orange peel. Instructions below.
Recipe Note
*To make an easy flamed orange peel, you need a piece of orange peel about 1-2 inches wide
(try to avoid the white pith) and a lighter or a match — and, of course, your cocktail. Hold the
orange peel over your finished cocktail.
Light your match or lighter and hold in your other hand. Make sure the shiny side of the orange
peel is facing the flame. Quickly squeeze the peel toward the flame. You’ll see a small flash —
that’s the citrus oils igniting and falling into your drink. After the quick flame, just toss the peel
into the drink for garnish.
