Beyond the Bottle: SYLTBAR's Sustainable Wine Packaging and Shipping Solutions

Wine is enjoyed by many people all over the world, but have you ever thought about what happens to the packaging and shipping materials once you've finished your bottle? It's important to think about the environmental impact of wine packaging and shipping practices, and that's why sustainable wine packaging and shipping is becoming more and more common.

Sustainable Materials to Use for Wine Packaging and Shipping

One popular material is recycled paper and cardboard for boxes and labels. This helps reduce the amount of trees that need to be cut down for packaging materials. Another material is biodegradable or compostable packaging made from materials such as cornstarch, sugarcane, or potato starch. These materials break down more easily than traditional plastic and help reduce the amount of waste in landfills.

When it comes to shipping, reusable and recyclable cardboard boxes are commonly used. This helps reduce the environmental impact of shipping wine since the same box can be used multiple times. Another eco-friendly option is using electric or hybrid vehicles for transportation instead of gas-powered vehicles. This helps reduce carbon emissions, which contribute to climate change.

In the case of SYLTBAR’s sustainability, light bottles are used, which makes it possible to save on the emissions deriving from the production of glass and in transportation. The bottles are also closed using 100% recyclable cork, and shipped using 100% recycled paperboard boxes.

SYLTBAR’s Sustainable Practices

When selecting a wine, the first thing you think about is probably not how it was packaged and shipped. With SYLTBAR, the first thoughts that come to mind are how light and refreshing it tastes, it’s low in sugar and calories, has no added sulfites or other chemicals, and is 100% naturally produced by one family-owned vineyard in Italy. We also take pride in the way that we package and ship out our boxes of wine in a way that protects and benefits the environment, which in turn, benefits human life.

Using sustainable materials reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, and helps reduce the overall environmental impact of the wine industry. It’s also very common that most wineries that practice sustainable wine packaging and shipping also follow organic or natural wine production practices, i.e. SYLTBAR. As you know, this means that the wine is produced without the use of harmful pesticides and herbicides, and uses natural farming practices that are better for the environment, which is exactly what our producers, San Simone, do.

Our producers strongly desire a quality of wine that is acquired through using clean energy from renewable sources. They have been able to achieve this by installing a photovoltaic system that reduces CO2 emissions. By properly maintaining these systems and the thermal insulation of the wine vessels, as well as using a wastewater treatment plant, the environmental impact is reduced and there is a large savings of energy. By limiting the water use to only those necessary times during operations, the vineyards do not need constant irrigation, even if it is a drier year. There is also great attention paid to to ensuring there is separate waste collection for recycling materials.

In addition to all of the environmentally beneficial precautions taken at the vineyard, every single employee is required to abide by the standards of the Green Project. Our producers train all of their employees on environmental, safety and security measures that focus on energy saving and reduction of waste, and other behaviors to support our ecosystem.

Why to Choose Sustainable Packaging and Shipping Materials

Sustainable wine packaging and shipping practices are just one small part of a larger movement towards a more sustainable future. By choosing wines that are sustainably packaged and transported to their destination, you're helping to support environmentally friendly practices and encouraging more wineries to adopt sustainable practices as well.

Sustainable wine packaging and shipping practices are an important aspect of the wine industry's environmental impact. Together, we can reduce waste, support organic and natural wine production practices, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
