Why You Shouldn’t Store Your Case of SYLTBAR Standing Up

The way you store your bottle of Prosecco can have an affect on its quality, as well as your overall drinking experience. Without proper storage, your favorite bubbly drink may not be at its best — and we never want that, do we?! We always want you to be able to enjoy your Happy Healthy Daily Juice experience, so here are a few tips on how you should store your bottles of Mr.

What is the best way to store Prosecco?

There are a few key things to remember in order to make sure your Prosecco stays as fresh as possible.

First, you should store your unopened Prosecco on its side instead of standing upright. Doing so keeps the cork wet, and prevents having a corked bottle. This is why wine fridges and wine cellars are the best places to store your bottles. They have racks for wine to be stored sideways.

Before drinking, however, it is very important to make sure your Prosecco is chilled to the right temperature, which is 45-49 °F. You can put your Prosecco in the fridge or freezer to chill it, but the best method is using an ice bucket. The trick is to use an equal amount of both ice and water in the bucket. Never put your bottle of SYLTBAR on ice alone.

Keep in mind that humidity and sunlight can damage the flavor profile of Prosecco, so it’s best to keep bottles in a cool, dark environment — which is exactly why people prefer to use wine fridges or keep their wine bottles in a cellar. With SYLTBAR, however, you don’t have to worry about this as much as you might with other Prosecco brands. Our producers have gone above and beyond to create a bottle that has much thicker glass than the average wine bottle, so it protects the juice from outside light and temperatures.

How do you keep Prosecco fresh?

Once you open a bottle of Prosecco, it should be drunk relatively quickly. Since SYLTBAR has absolutely zero added sulfites or chemicals to preserve it, we recommend drinking it within 5 days of opening the bottle — but, let’s be honest. We know you probably finish your Mr or Mrs the same day you open it!

However, on those rare occasions that you do not finish Mr or Mrs in one sitting, our biggest piece of advice for how to keep your Prosecco fresh is to use a stopper. Not just any stopper though, the Italian-patented SYLTBAR Champagne bottle stoppers are the best you will ever find. They keep your bubbly fresh and fizzing for up to 3-4 days, and they are visually appealing too, coming in a variety of colors including pink, black and golden.

How long does Prosecco last?

Prosecco is much more delicate than other still wines that are meant to be aged for many years before drinking. There are a lot of bold red and white wines that benefit greatly from a longer aging process and become much more enhanced over the years — but Prosecco does not.

An unopened bottle of SYLTBAR is meant to be drunk within two years of the bottle date. This does not mean that the bottle contents will actually spoil or become rotten, but it means that the sparkling wine just might not be so appealing to your palate anymore.

If you try to “age” a bottle of Mr, or any kind of sparkling wine, you run the risk of opening a bottle that has lost its flavor, aromas and has most likely gone flat. That means the bubbles have lost their effervescence and fizz, and the whole point of drinking Prosecco or Champagne is the bubbles, so why would you ever want that to happen? After two years of that carbonation sitting in the bottle, it begins to dissipate.

If you are unsure whether or not your bottle of SYLTBAR Premium Prosecco is older than two years, pour some out into a glass and pay close attention to the color of the juice and its smell. You should be able to notice right away if it smells off. It might have an old, mustiness to its aroma, no longer possessing its memorable notes of pear, golden apple, white peach and lemon. If your Prosecco is too old, its color will be a much deeper and darker yellow than its usual crisp and clear golden blonde. If you notice either or both of these things, then sadly, your bottle of SYLTBAR has gone bad.
