Mrs Martin and Mr Blohm Episode 40: Happiness is determined by “how,"not by “what”
Regina dragged herself with the last bit of strength she had left toward her side entrance after having waited — and pretending to work — in the La Perla showroom until 9:00 p.m., still hoping for one more sign of life from Mr. Blohm.
But nothing came.
She was bitterly disappointed after this magical night with Mr. Blohm. After all, the only thing she had received from him was one text message, immediately after she had written to him, “Hamburg is wonderful,” on that light, sunny, but already cold November 3rd, 2005 morning in Hamburg.
And Mr. Blohm’s reply had come immediately:
“You are wonderful, Miss Martin.”
Regina simply could not make anything of it. So she had left it unanswered the entire day and had not taken the advice of her best friend Stephan, who had told her to simply call Mr. Blohm.
And yet, somewhere deep inside, there was still this tiny hope that maybe a bouquet of flowers would be waiting for her at her side entrance at Rondell 31.
When Regina finally arrived there after parking in her parking spot and noticing the light shining from Mr. Blohm’s window facing the street, she felt as if she had aged 100 years in a single day.
But she saw nothing.
There was no hopeful flower bouquet waiting for her.

Romantic Surprise
And in that moment, when she realized there was nothing there, one last hope came to her mind: maybe Mr. Blohm had slipped a letter into her mailbox.
In Regina’s opinion, one should never give up hope, even when everything looks completely hopeless. And for one brief second, that thought brought a tiny spark of hope back into her heart.
The mailboxes for Rondell 31 were located in the main building. So, with the last bit of strength she had left, Regina dragged herself over, unlocked the main door of the Rondell 31 condo building, and stood in the quiet hallway where the six mailboxes were hanging.
There was her mailbox labeled “Mrs. Martin,” because Mr. Blohm had already arranged that for her — something that had deeply impressed Regina at the time, because he had truly kept his promise to take care of that task and place her name onto the tiny mailbox sign.
She glanced up the stairs, knowing very well that Mr. Blohm was only three floors above her, probably sitting at home and watching a soccer game on television.

But not for one second did Regina think about ringing Mr. Blohm’s doorbell.
With slightly trembling hands, Regina opened her mailbox.
The only thing she pulled out was an envelope containing a bill from the insurance company.
Tears came to her eyes as she held that insurance envelope in her hands. At the same time, she thought to herself:
Oh Regina, you are such a hopeless case when it comes to romance. Things like this only happen in movies like Pretty Woman. Reality simply looks different. The only mail people received these days, even back in 2005, were invoices. Who even wrote love letters anymore? Regina thought.

She closed the mailbox and walked back toward her side entrance, completely heartbroken, now convinced there was no hope left. Mr. Blohm, or anyone else, did not have a key to her side entrance, so there was simply no chance a bouquet or any other note could be waiting there in front of her studio door.
The Pretty Woman Moment of Mrs. Martin
She opened the side door and walked slowly and completely exhausted along the garden entrance. Then she turned the corner—
and she could not believe what she saw from far away.
She simply could not believe it.
There, right in front of her studio door, stood the bouquet she had secretly and desperately hoped for. It was placed beautifully in a glass vase directly in front of the white door.
It was not a bouquet of simple red roses. In Regina’s opinion, anyone could do that.
No, this bouquet was so much more beautiful.
It was overflowing with colors: white, yellow, red, orange, apricot, and deep dark red.
Exactly the way life should be.
Colorful.
Regina ran toward the bouquet, lifted it into her hands, and hugged it tightly while tears streamed down her cheeks.
In that moment, she thought to herself:
How on earth did Mr. Blohm manage to place this bouquet in front of my studio door without a key?
And for the very first time, she did not feel the need to call one of her friends for advice. Not Elena. Not Evelyn. Not Stephan.
Her heart told her immediately that there were no more tactics anymore.
All she felt was the overwhelming urge to call Mr. Blohm immediately.
She unlocked the door to her studio, opened her fridge, took out a bottle of her favorite Prosecco, opened it, and grabbed a white wine glass. She filled the glass, sat down at her long dining table, and placed the flower bouquet on the table while looking out through her long windows onto the Rondell lake — and for the first time in a very long while, she had the biggest smile on her face.
Outside, it was already completely dark and unusually quiet for a November night.

Regina lit a candle, took her phone, and called Mr. Blohm.
Mr. Blohm picked up the phone and immediately heard the excited voice of Miss Martin.
“Mr. Blohm,” Regina said, “I want to thank you for the beautiful flower bouquet.”
Not for one second had Regina doubted that this bouquet could have come from anyone other than Mr. Blohm.
Mr. Blohm answered warmly and pretended to sound slightly surprised.
Through a Window for Love
“Oh, good evening, Miss Martin.”
And in that very moment, he himself was delighted that the surprise had succeeded so perfectly because — just as Miss Martin had suspected — Mr. Blohm truly had to take an extraordinary extra step to make this surprise happen.
Reaching Miss Martin’s studio entrance had seemed almost impossible.
Unless he climbed through the window of the insurance company located in the basement level of the building to get into the garden area leading to Miss Martin’s studio.
And that was exactly the idea Mr. Blohm had come up with in order to truly surprise Miss Martin.
And that was exactly what Mr. Blohm had done that day.

After buying the flowers at his favorite flower shop on Mittelweg in Hamburg, he had rung the bell at the insurance office downstairs and said:
“Good day. I’m your neighbor, Claus Blohm, from the third floor.”
Standing there with the beautiful colorful flower bouquet in his hands, he continued:
“We have never met before, but I would like to surprise my neighbor, Miss Martin. And for that, I would need to climb out of one of your windows to reach her garden entrance.”
The four employees working in the insurance office looked completely confused at first and replied:
“What?”
But at the same time, they could see the urgency, nervousness, and genuine affection in Mr. Blohm’s eyes — and, of course, the beautiful flower bouquet in his hands.
So they immediately decided to help him accomplish his mission.
They could clearly see that this man was in love.
They promptly opened the window, even though it was already a cold November day, and Mr. Blohm, wearing his coat, carefully climbed onto one of the desks to squeeze through the small basement window while balancing the bouquet in his hands.
Everyone in the office started laughing because the situation was so unbelievably unusual and funny — watching a well-dressed man climb through an insurance office window carrying a giant colorful bouquet of flowers.
And when he finally made it through, the employees applauded and laughed even harder.
“We’re very curious to see how this love story continues,” one of them said to Mr. Blohm.
Mr. Blohm simply gave them a slightly sweaty smile in return, but he said nothing.
From that day on, they secretly observed, through their office windows, how the story between Mr. Blohm and Miss Martin slowly continued to unfold.
And honestly…
didn’t it all feel a little bit like the final scene of Pretty Woman?
From Formalities to Forever
And that’s how it all began — the love story between Mrs. Martin and Mr. Blohm on November 3rd, 2005.
Now stay tuned for the moment when Mrs. Martin and Mr. Blohm finally switched from formalities to first names — from “Mrs. Martin” and “Mr. Blohm” to simply Regina and Claus.
That is another story.
It took a little while — not too long, but still.
So here, we will end the story of Mrs. Martin and Mr. Blohm with Episode 40.
And on May 31st, 2027, when Regina and Claus celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary — even though they will already have known each other for 23 years by then — we will finally disclose how Mrs. Martin and Mr. Blohm eventually began calling each other by their first names, and what very special movie triggered that unforgettable moment.
It is a movie they still hold close to their hearts today because, in their opinion, it perfectly shows what true love really means.
And yes…
we will also finally reveal whether Mrs. Martin wore her dream wedding dress — the dress she had bought secondhand from her Turkish tailor in Munich eight years before Mrs. Martin ever met Mr. Blohm and had carefully stored in a vacuum-sealed cake box for all those years.
And you will also finally get to know how SYLTBAR was created through the love story between Mrs. Martin and Mr. Blohm.
So stay curious and patient…
and make sure to have your Mr or Mrs SYLTBAR ready during that time — and especially on May 31st, 2027.
Because without Mrs. Martin and Mr. Blohm…
there would never have been SYLTBAR. 🥂
