SYLTBAR is awarded the Double Gold Award at AFWC’s THE Rosé Competition 2020. 

American Fine Wine Competition 2020 - Double Gold Winner

In the Sparkling Wine Category, an extraordinary thing happened! Best of Show went to Napa’s Domaine Carneros Brut Rosé ($44), for the second year in a row- a fabulous wine that beat out a strong field of bubblies from around the world. "What a testament to Eileen Crane's 40+ year career as founding winemaker and CEO of Domaine Carneros. She is an industry pioneer who continues to set the bar for American sparkling wine and her exceptional Cuvee de la Pompadour Brut Rose is one of my all-time favorites!" Said Stephanie Miskew, Judge, CSW, Certified Sommelier, Fox News Contributor and Author of The Glamorous Gourmet.

Syltbar “il Concerto”, an organic wine made from Merlot grapes from Friuli, Italy; Ca’del Borgo, also from Friuli; and the final double gold medal winner in the sparkling wine category was Domaine Carneros Cuvee de Pompadour.

THE Rosé Competition 2020 received a total of 150 entries and the sixteen esteemed wine judges awarded 14 Double Gold Medals, 28 Gold Medals and 50 Silver Medals.

Every year this competition becomes more challenging and more exciting because the wines continue to improve in quality, demonstrated by the number of gold and double gold medals. The American Fine Wine Competition began in 2007 and has become the most influential all-American wine invitational in the country.

THE Rosé Competition began seven years ago and is becoming one of the most prominent Rosé Competitions in the world.

The AFWC takes place each January, the Rosé Competition is every April.

These events are followed by a series of exciting and creative wine events throughout the year. They feature all of the award winning wines AND help to raise money for a variety of non-profits. The AFWC and the Rosé Competition have raised more than $1,100,000 for local charities.

About SYLTBAR Sparkling Rose

Production: San Simone Friuli, Italy believes wine is grown in the vineyards, not made in the cellar. Taste the respect for nature in our wines. Health focused in natural Wine production 
Grape Variety: 100% Merlot 
Vineyards: guyot training system, 4,000 plants per hectare, yield 80 ql/Ha. 
Harvest Period: II/III week of September 
Vinification: crushing, destemming, first phase of fermentation. Second fermentation in pressurized tanks for up to 4 months at controlled temperature 61-64°F. 
Alcohol content: 11.5% by vol. 
Nutrition: 63 calories per 6oz glass, calorie count / glucose level 
Color: Light lychee, silky and radiant 
Nose: Elegant, complex, fresh and fruity, with slight notes of pomegranate and petals of dog rose 
Palate: Light, rich in personality, reminiscent of cherries. 
Food Pairing: Perfect unaccompanied as an aperitif or paired with oysters, white fish carpaccio or light appetizer 
Serve: Temperature 45-48°F, white wine glass
